Part one: Typical Government Waste
Fraternal twins Tom and Michelle Lasker have worked as a government courier team for over 20 years. It has become pretty routine for them moving sensitive documents. Assigned to pick up microfilm from a rookie fraternal twin team they discover that the two have lost the item, making this one more in a series of bungled runs for the Ryker brothers. When retracing their steps fails to turn up the missing document the Laskers are ordered to return the Rykers to Washington D.C. Along the way it is discovered that the microfilm has been tucked in the bandana of Corey Ryker (so he wouldn't lose it) No problem really as the four learn that this was all a test to give the Rykers a final chance at a run before remanding them to desk jobs.
Part Two: 22 Red Sox
At the end of a run Tom and Michelle Lasker find themselves in a college town with a couple of extra days to kick back. To their dismay the Rykers meet up with them and more to their dismay the four are only able to find one motel room due to a huge campus event. Forced out on the town while Tom entertains a "friend" Mat watches as Michelle and Corey are grabbed by a group of fraternity pledges. Tom and Mat save the day and learn that their siblings were nabbed as part of a scavenger hunt by the pledges who misinterpretted an item on the list.
Part three: Separation Anxiety
Realizing that the Rykers have been with the department for over a year and have not fulfilled a requirement to take a run separated, the teams' boss decides to split them with the Laskers. And while Tom and Michelle think a run away from each other might be refreshing the Rykers are anxious. Mat overtly cannot be separated from Corey. With cell phones being the only connection between all four find out which team is really having the problem being apart. In the end it is learned that this whole thing is part of a research project on separation anxiety. Tired of the government abuse and feeling like lab rats the Laskers quit creating a definite end but paving the way for a sequel called Contending with Life.
Contending with Life: The Laskers return to the government as independent contractors to do a favor for their former boss. They must "babysit" Johnny Captor who has been in the witness protection program since 1980 when he testified against the mob after refusing to throw the olympic medal in boxing. During that time he has created havoc and had his identity changed several times. Now a stock boy at a grocery store in Lake Village, Indiana he again must be pulled and given another identity. The Laskers devise a plan to call off the mob and allow their annoying charge the opportunity to be Johnny Captor again. Throughout, Tom and Michelle disagree as to whether or not they will continue to be roommates. This film will serve as pilot for the series by the same name. The series will show the Laskers in their new lives after the government with ocassional times when they go back to perform favors.
